How to treat a hand-made quilt:
Sleep under it.
Wrap up in it to watch t.v.
Tie it around your neck and use it as a cape.
Get snot all over it when you're sick.
Drool on it.
Spill things on it.
Lay it in the grass for a picnic.
Let your pets shed all over it.
Give it to your 2 year-old.
Patch it badly when it wears thin.
Refuse to throw it out even when it's falling apart.
Infuse it with every memory you can.
MOST OF ALL: never, NEVER put it away to "keep it safe".
